Agriculture

A friend to Shiawassee and Saginaw County's agricultural community, Ben Glardon has been a life-long farming advocate as an auctioneer and realtor. Ben Glardon also has been a longtime supporter of your local youth agricultural programs like 4-H and FFA. As State Representative Ben supported legislation that fostered the growth of Michigan's farms. Serving on the House Agricultural Committee has given Ben the opportunity to help guide legislation that is intended to continue to strengthen Michigan's farms. Ben has fought for agriculture by sponsoring legislation that removed burdensome regulations. He also supported legislation that strengthened MAEAP environmental protection. Pro Life

Ben Glardon understands just how precious life is and that it is a gift from God. When Ben and his wife Miriam were unable to conceive a child they adopted their daughter Madison at birth. They know first-hand that adoption is always a viable option. As State Representative Ben sponsored what is now Public Act 169 of 2011 of the Partial -Birth Abortion Ban. This defines criminal sentencing for those individuals who violate the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. Endorsed by Right to Life of Michigan.

Government Spending / Economy

Ben Glardon understands that the Legislature needs to reduce spending and enact necessary reforms to make government operate more efficiently.  Ben has been a part of balancing the budget in record time for the past two years. By budgeting responsibly the state went from a $1.5 billion deficit to having a surplus.

Ben's primary goal is to create an environment for job growth. That is why he supported eliminating the burdensome Michigan Business Tax and replacing it with a simple flat tax. This change has dramatically increased Michigan's corporate tax ranking from 49th to 7th in the nation.

As State Representative Ben voted to end lifetime health care benefits for State Legislators including himself and legislation that prevents fraud and abuse in the state welfare programs.

2nd Amendment

Ben Glardon is a true believer in supporting our Second Amendment rights and protecting our hunting and angling heritage as Americans. He is a true sportsmen and conservationist and believes in the wise use of our natural resources. Serving as a State Representative we can count on Ben Glardon to stand up to liberal special interest groups that want to change our way of life and outdoor recreational activities. In addition to being a very active hunter and fisherman, Ben Glardon devotes many hours of time and service annually to the Shiawassee Conservation Club and our local chapters of Whitetails Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and Commemorative Bucks of Michigan .
